Somewhere between the turn of a key and the first beat of the engine, a car stops being metal.
Everything here exists for that moment.
My name is Giulian Bakker. I understood that moment as a child, long before I could drive, and it never let go. So the only question left was how to get closer to it.
At fourteen I went to work in the trade from repairing to restoring – the shortest route to being around these cars every day.
I’m twenty now. 6 years of work experience and young enough to spend the next fifty years doing it properly.
Gruppo Classics is what grew out of that.
A gruppo is a group. Never one thing standing alone.
A car is a group: of ideas, of hands, of decades. Someone drew that line. Someone argued about that colour.
And every car is a document of its time, metal doesn’t lie. A country rebuilding itself after a war built small engines and used as littel metal as possible. were economic booming periods asked for big luxerior saloons
And a group is people, too. Gruppo Classics is for the ones who feel it
A place where the heart beats faster. That’s the whole point.
Which is why I’ve never tied myself to one badge or one border. Italian, German, British, French. Pre-war elegance or eighties steel. What matters is whether a car still has something to say. A shape you keep looking at from across the yard. A sound you feel before you hear it.
That’s what we bring together here. Cars from different countries, different decades, different worlds, standing side by side under one roofPut them together and they start a conversation of their own.
None of them stays forever, and none of them is meant to. A classic moves from hand to hand; we’re simply one of the hands along the way. All that matters is that a car leaves here better understood than when it arrived.
We’re in Ceva, in the hills of Piedmont. An hour from Turin, where so much of this was drawn, and within reach of every road these cars were built for. Come for a car, or come to stand next to one and talk about it for an hour. Around here, both count as a good reason to visit.
